Yes I do Email Marketing

Have a mailing list? Have you mailed any offers lately?

Today I mailed all subscribers of this blog an offer from Nathan Segal.

If you missed the email, visit Nathan and learn how to speed up your computer (If yours is running slow).
http://www.speedupmycomputernow.com/2.html

Nathan has put together a real effective program for speeding up your computer and I’ve used it so wanted to share it with you. Yes, if you buy I’ll make a commission (But not this time from the link above) and does that make me a bad person?

Some people think so.

I’ve received nasty messages as some subscribers got off the subscribers list today. These are the same people that never dropped me a line to thank me for pouring my hart into this blog to help them and others that need blogging help. I call these people “Smash and Grabbers”. Or, takers. What’s in it for me and screw you types.

What is it with people these days?? Is there a new virus going around called “Entitlement”?

When I was a young man there was a whole lot of talk about class. When you saw someone you’ve not seen in a while, you bought them a drink.

When you visit someones home you send a hand written note thanking them later for their hospitality.

You know, I busted my butt to write the Wordpress report I give away here and I can count on two hands how many people dropped me a line to say thank you out of 1,592 subscribers.

I respond to people that ask me questions here for FREE while I charge thousands of dollars for coaching in other places.

If you’d like to unsubscribe because I sent you an email recommending a program I use and like please do but keep your nasty comments to yourself and show some class.

Hate internet marketers? Well, 90% of the questions I get from people boils down to one, “How do I make money online?”

Here’s the answer:

1. Give some real good value away in exchange for an email address.

2. Sincerely care about the people you are serving.

3. Find good services and products you can recommend to your subscribers that if they buy, you’ll earn an affiliate commission.

I have a personal rule about this: I do not care how much money I will make. The product has to be good and the author has to be a person of honor.  I suggest you come up with some rules too because if you are just out there mailing offers for pure cash, you may lose a whole lot of sleep.

4. Rinse and repeat.

I agree with you. As an Internet Marketer I also have gotten angry emails from people when I promoted a product to my list, ironically, the same product you have here, except my niche was a graphics software list. One woman not only unsubscribed, she wrote a nasty note saying that how dare I write about this product to my list and I should only promote what she thinks I should promote.

Wow.

She totally ignored that I was giving her valuable and useful information. She also didn’t think it through. My book was about speeding up the computer. What does her graphics program run on? A computer. And if the computer runs poorly, so will her graphics program.

Shortsighted? You bet, but it’s typical of what we encounter these days.

Another time I got flamed twice by a guy who didn’t think I was giving enough, despite the fact that at the time that I ran two half-price specials complete with 5 bonuses. His greed was shocking. After that, I booted him off my list and blocked him from returning.

Some say the customer is always right. I disagree. Sometimes it’s necessary to fire the customer.

Never understood the rude behavior. People take so much and then send one sales email and they explode. Ridiculous and definitely NOT the business for them to be in :) You do wonderful things for people, Craig. Don’t let the random ingrates get you down :)

Craig,

Your experience is not unique. I hear many marketers echo the same problem. I, for one, am greatful for what you and other marketers have left on the blogs that I can glean. I cannot afford to contribute to you or the others at this time, but that will change some time soon.

In the meantime, I take what I can and apply it, and, when possible, I try to share it with others so they, too, may have a chance of success.

Thank you!

We are all creatures of emotion. Our rationality is like a tiny boat floating on a vast ocean of emotion. If the conditions are just right, the boat gets upset and goes off kilter.

I’m no exception to this. There are many reasons why people react with anger. Some people truly are the ingrates mentioned in this post. But some are coping with enormous stresses in their lives and it just takes something small to momentarily tip their boat over.

I’ve been angry with Craig more than a year because of a typo in one of his responses to me in his forum. The typo was the omission a single word that made his response seem almost evil (to me). This typo transformed a kind and well meaning remark into something offhand and mean. Typo’s happen all the time with little effect on the reader. But this one was truly remarkable in how it so utterly changed the meaning of the sentence. Because I didn’t confront Craig immediately about his remark last year, it festered in me until I finally confronted him recently and it was finally resolved. I’m only glad that I never went public with my anger which would have done Craig a great disservice.

The point I’m making is that often there’s more going on beneath the surface of someone’s nasty or angry remark. Perhaps understanding this makes coping with these remarks a little easier to do. This doesn’t absolve the angry person for his lack of “class” that Craig mentions here.

Thanks for the comments Marc…

I’m sooo happy we cleared that up.

Blog on,

What’s truly amazing about a lot of this is not only the sense of entitlement, but also the notion that if it’s on the web, it’s free or should be free. Every now and then I get flamed by people on my list who get mad because I’m promoting products to sell (even my own). What so many of these folks don’t seem to realize is that this is a business and while they do get free stuff from time to time, a business exists to make money.

Awhile ago I got flamed by one subscriber (twice) for “not doing enough or giving subscribers a better deal.” This was despite the fact that I was running a half-price deal and offering 5 bonuses that took me a week to create. He even took advantage of another half-price deal and was still complaining. His greed was profound. I didn’t even bother to respond. I booted him off all my lists and blocked him from ever returning. No one needs this kind of crap.

I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from you Craig, not yet anyway. I do appreciate though the way you talked me through my first attempt at Wordpress, at 5 a.m. my time. I told everyone who would listen about it. I have been overwhelmed by other things the past 2 months but as soon as winter sets in I am going full steam ahead with the blog and I’m sure the info I get from you will be invaluable. I am new to internet marketing but I fail to see why people should object to paying for something of value. I have bought quite a few information products even when I really couldn’t afford it and have never felt taken advantage of.
