If you added a email list building function to your blog like the one you see here, it’s a great way to build a group of people interested in your subject. This is one part of how businesses are built on the internet.

Many use aweber as their auto responder service. There are two major players and aweber is one of them. I’m using them for a few years now and am happy with their service.

What I like about this service is if you have a wordpress blog, or any blog that has an RSS feed, you can add your rss feed to your aweber account and every time you post to your blog, your members get an auto update message and a link to the updated content.

You can set it up to only send out updates after one post, two or more. I’ve set mine up to mail you after two new posts.

Warning: Do not update your permalinks because if you do, your rss feed will be updated and your auto responder will send out loads of update emails like this blog did two days ago.

I tested this and know this is what happened.

Yesterday I moved this blog from a folder called blog into this domain’s main folder. Now all the blog content is at http://www.idiotproofblogging.com.

Problem is, it automaticlly sent out 7 emails saying this blog has been updated.

Someone wrote and was really pissed off about this.

I apologize for these fruitless auto emails. Please understand, none of this stuff works the way it should all the time.

Things should be working fine now.

custom question: How do I create a template for WordPress that I can easily change, i.e., header, etc., so I can flip blogs

Tell me more… Do you have an image editing program like photo shop? Have you worked with wordpress code before?

If I wanted to do it, I’d search Google for “PLR wordpress themes” buy them and use em. PLR stands for private label rights meaning you can do anything you want with them.

But before buying, I’d make sure they’re not the standard wordpress theme with just the header image changed. I’ve bought some of these and they’re pure crap!

Changing front and colors is a breeze from within the CSS sheet. I’m going to teach this soon because I’ve been asked about it a few times now.

The lesson is “How to write for the web” or better, how to format your text for the web.

But before I go into the lesson, let’s put it into some context.

It’s a known fact among savvy marketers and webmasters that when people hit your page the first thing they do is scan headlines, subhead lines and banners looking for whatever they thought they would find before coming to your site.

If they find something that catches their eye they investigate.
