Best blogging software

Roy asked: “What is the best blogging software?”

Well I think it is WordPress hands down. It’s free, you can install it on any host, it can do some real incredible things using plugins and I could just keep going on and on about it.

However, if you’re just getting started, I strongly suggest using Blogger because it’s free and owned by Google. Search “Make Money Online” in Google and the number one spot is owned by a Blogger blog. This tells me, using Blogger works. Side note: The type of blogging software you use has little effect on search engine rankings.

Why I suggest blogger really is because just maybe, all this blogging / Internet marketing stuff turns out to not be a good fit for you. If it’s not for you, you’re not out of pocket going with Blogger. It’s a great way to get your feet wet cheaply.

If going with blogger works out meaning you like writing, the blog is getting traffic, you don’t mind working on getting back links, then you can always import all your blogger content into WordPress hosted on your own domain with a click of the mouse when you’re ready.

WordPress guide is coming

Hi Folks,

For the past three weeks I’ve been working on a WordPress guide for beginners. It’s going to be huge.

The name? “Your First WordPress Blog – The beginner’s Definitive Guide”

This is the first of its kind because it walks you through every step it takes from getting your own domain name to configuring plugins. So far, its 45 pages and still going. It has loads of screen shots for the people that need to see an example.

Can you help?

What would you like in a guide like this?

I’ve put way too much time into this to give it away for free so what do you think someone should pay for such a guide? (What ever the price is, my subscribers will get a secret code for a deep discount.)

Should it have videos as well?

What should it have to make it the best in guide ever?

Thanks in advance

Changing Text Size

Hi Folks,

Changing text size for your posts within WordPress is easy for me but when I first did it, it was far from easy.

Why would you want to change font size? Glad you asked… Bigger text is easy to read obviously.

Part of your job as a content provider is to create effortless consumable content for your readers. Making your font size bigger achieves a part of that goal. However, if you have a blog where the outcome is to just get licks on banners and links that make money, then making your font size smaller will do the trick. If this is your goal, that’s your business and as a side note, you’ll continually have to spend your time driving new traffic.

The following is a step by step walk through for changing font size.

Making Money From Banners

Hi Folks,

When wordpress first came to us, all I could think about was having a plugin that would let me rotate banners, track the clicks and let me put them anywhere I wanted.

I thought about posting a job on rentacoder (a place to hire people to make scripts) but never got around to it. You know how that goes right? You think of a good idea and then you go feed the dog and there goes that great idea!

This week I found what seems to be the solution to my want. I’ve yet to test it but it’s looking real good.
Here it is http://www.maxblogpress.com/plugins/mba/ Give it a try.

Why I want to do this is because we will never know what our readers will respond to unless we expose them to many choices and track it.

With just putting one banner on your site and tracking it, it’s gonna take a long time and a lot of traffic to see some results. You have to remember later to check the stats and then decide to change the banner or not, which is a process. With the above plugin you’ll spend a little time setting everything up but once it’s done it’s done.

I promise I am going to get this plugin going because I know the value of doing so and I hope you join me and give it a go on one of your blogs too. I’ve been able to do this with stright HTML sites with a simple PHP include but with a blog, I’ve yet to do it.

Here is something that needs to be tested: Slip in a banner to something that is not targeted to your niche. Something like credit repair or a banner for a free trial to a dating site. I think you may be surprised to see people clicking and buying. These are called “General Offers”.

Using Widgets

I was asked about installing Blogrush in WordPress so check out the following guide if you’d like to install Adsense, Blogrush, a subscriber form, or anything else on your WordPress blog.

Installing whatever can be easily done with WordPress Widgets.

Go ahead and log into your WordPress admin panel.

Look for design and under that is widgets. Select widgets.

If you’re running a template with more than one sidebar, select the sidebar you want to install Blogrush or whatever else.

select side bar
