Yup, it’s Thanksgiving here in Japan where I live and it’s nothing like being home.
Today I’m grateful however. Very grateful!
Today’s blog post is not really about Thanksgiving however, it’s about this blog, my passion and what’s going to be happening soon.
I know a lot of subscribers that are here came because they heard about me as a marketer, mentor or coach. I guess, this blog has been a disappointment? I hardly promote stuff, and there is not much marketing talk going on here. (more…)
If you’re not using video to market your blog, products and services you’re missing out.
It’s real important for loads of reasons to be using video and to list a few…
1. Youtube.com is the second most searched website on the internet. What could this mean? People want info fast and know video is the fastest way to get it. And lots of people are using youtube.com. You want to get in front of them with your message.
2. A high percentage of folks are visual. Meaning if they had a choice to how they want to consume content they’d choose video, images, pictures. I’m one of them.
3. Connect and bond. The days of “Buy MY Stuff!” are long gone. Folks want to know you care. They want to know you are willing to give first. They want to know what you have is of value before commuting to telling others about you, buying your stuff or dealing with you in any other way. Video is a great way to get that ball rolling.
Some things you should be warned about as you get into video.
1. It’s not going to be easy for the most part. Nothing is for that matter but the main point for you to do is to just get started. Nothing is ever going to be perfect including the time to get started. Just do it.
2. Chances are your first few attempts are going to stink. That’s okay, keep going and soon, you’ll make a few key distinctions that will help you improve real fast.
3. People will not like you, your video or your approach. This was a hard one for me. No one likes not being liked. But it’s something we all have to be okay with or we’ll stop trying because of the fear of rejection.
Push through your fear and if your heart is in the right place meaning, your core goal is to be helpful and a source of usefulness to your audience, it gets easy real fast.
What you can do to get started now…
1. Work from an out line. Just start off with something like, the top 3 mistakes people make when ( Fill in the blanks.) Make sure to add a call to action at the end of your presentation. Not “Go to my site and buy my stuff” but something like, “For more information on, blah, blah, go now to….” will work just fine. This can be a power point presentation. Using power point and camstudio which you can download for free.
2. Make one a day and upload it to youtube.com This is key. Stay with it, stay on it and improve as fast as you can or fail fast forward until you get good. How do you know when you are good? Lot’s of positive comments on your videos and traffic to your site. Simple right?
3. Work out the mechanics with video. I’m sure the above info is going to trigger loads of questions like, what about color? Music in the back ground? How do I do this and that?
As the questions pop-up, search it on youtube.com and I bet someone has already made a video on it.
