How To Backup Wordpress Database
Today I lost my whole blog (this one).
Thank goodness, I had a backup of my database. Your database is where all your Wordpress Blog’s content is stored on your hosting account’s server. Most of you will never have to know about this or go into it.
Luckily, I had a backup and was able to bring the blog back but I did lose to posts. The coaching post and the “Don’t upgrade to Wordpress 2.8″ post.
I also lost some comments too. Talk about being bummed out!
OK, please, please, please, if you are blogging with Wordpress, backup your database!
The following is how you do it:
1. Login to your hosting account’s cpanel. If your hosting account does not have cpanel, change hosts.
2. Look for an icon called “backups” (1) and click on it.

3. Click on what database to backup (1). If you are not sure, backup both. As soon as you click on the link (1) It’ll start downloading. Save it in a safe place. To bring your blog back to the state it was, click on browse (2) and select the database your want to restore. Then click “Upload” (3).

Please backup as much as you like but at least once a week.
If you forget and something happens, ask your hosting account if they can roll back your database to the last backup they have. They do this too
