Upgrade Wordpress Now Can’t Login FIX

Just upgraded one of my blogs to wordpress 2.6.5 and I could not login to my admin panel.

If this happens to you, do not change your password because your wordpress blog will mail the new password which puts your blog at risk of hackers.Plus, that’s not the issue.

Here’s what to do.

1. Login to your wordpress directory and backup to your computer your wp-config.php file.

2. Use the auto upgrade plugin to upgrade your blog. Just follow the directions on the screen.

2. Download Wordpress 2.6.5 from wordpress.org

3. Unzip it it and open up config-sample.php with notepad

5. Fill in your info. You can login to your site via FTP and open up your wp-config.php to get the info you need. Data base name, user name, password. -OR- get the info you need from the wp-config.php you’ve already made.

6. Save wp-config-sample.php as wp-config.php then upload it, over riding the old one in your blog’s directory via FTP.

This worked perfictlly for me.

Sidenote: When wordpress comes out with a new update, wait a little bit if you can because stuff like this always happens after they update.
